Teri Jo earned her undergraduate degrees at the University of Montana where she worked under Dr. David Bolstad on the synthesis of natural products for two years. She also worked as a laboratory assistant under Dr. Fernando Cardozo in his neurotoxicology lab for a year. She graduated in 2012 with a B.S. in chemistry and a B.A. in psychology; she began her studies as a graduate student at UC Davis the same year. Teri Jo joined the Chen lab in the Winter of 2012. She has been working on the synthesis of bioactive glycans and glycoconjugates. Her main interests are the design and synthesis of carbohydrate-based cancer vaccines, and the development of bacterial sialidase inhibitors.
